Why Measure Y?
The Clovis Way of Life is built on safe neighborhoods for our families...
However, due to Sacramento mandates and added costs, Clovis has the same number of firefighters and police officers today as we had over 15 years ago, while our population has increased nearly 40%. This has led to increased 9-1-1 response times and stretched our resources thin during emergencies.
Measure Y is a modest investment in maintaining the Clovis Way of Life and remaining the Safest City in the Valley.
Measure Y will restore fire and police services to the levels Clovis residents expect
Measure Y will cut down 9-1-1 medical response times in the City of Clovis
Measure Y will help Clovis reach its target of retaining 1 police officer for every 1,000 residents and raise the level of staffing of police officers and firefighters to meet the incredible growth of Clovis that has occurred over the past 15 years.
Approximately two-thirds of all calls to the Clovis Fire Department are related to medical emergencies. Measure Y will help drive response times down from 11 minutes to a standard of 6.5 minutes across Clovis. It will also ensure Clovis has the needed firefighters and paramedics, while increasing the number of certified EMT firefighters and lifesaving equipment to respond to emergencies and save lives.
Measure Y maintains the Clovis Way of Life and our place as Safest City in the Valley
Measure Y features rock-solid spending disclosures and accountability measures
Clovis is the safest city in the Valley and a great place to live, work and raise a family. That status is being challenged by growing crime and homelessness coming from neighboring communities, increasing potholes on local streets and roads, and added costs to provide essential services. Measure Y is a modest investment to retain the Clovis Way of Life.
Measure includes tough accountability provisions such as requiring public disclosure of all spending and guaranteed annual independent audits. These fiscal safeguards will ensure funds are used efficiently, effectively and as promised to deliver on the Clovis Way of Life.
"Clovis has long been known for being the safest city in the Valley, and one of the safest in the State of California. This is why many families have chosen to call Clovis home. Maintaining that safety ranking is not easy or cheap. It's why we need Measure Y."
